The Taylor Family

The  history of the Taylor family living in the  hamlet village of Dore Derbyshire  (now Sheffield) is well documented and reveal them to have played a part of the village life both socially and professionally. Census and parish records place them there in the 16 th century and earlier.

The Dore brass band was formed around 1850 with Henry Taylor as the band leader.

They played at most social events such as village festivals and have been depicted in a lot of Christmas postcards playing in the village centre.

Occupation’s of the Taylor family

Records show the family to be associated with the local agriculture as farmers of the surrounding land. and makers of farming implements. These included such things as scythe making   and various other metal tooling.
